About

The Irish Dance Teacher's Association of North America (IDTANA) operates in tandem with An Coimisiún le Rincí Gaelacha (CLRG) in Dublin, Ireland. All members of IDTANA must be registered and certified as a TMRF, TCRG or ADCRG by CLRG. IDTANA is represented at CLRG by the IDTANA Executive Board, the Regional Directors of North America, two elected CLRG Representatives members of each Region, the elected North American Vice Presidents of CLRG plus any co-opted North American CLRG members.

The emphasis of the IDTANA is to promote Irish Dance throughout North America. Through continued cooperation with the North American Feis Commission, each region regulates Feiseanna in their area with a standardized syllabus of competitions and rules.

Annually, the IDTANA sponsors the North American Irish Dance Championships (NAIDC) during the first week of July.  The NAIDC is recognized as North America's secondary qualifying event for Oireachtas Rince na Cruinne (the annual World Irish Dancing Championships) held each year near Easter and sponsored by CLRG.  The primary event for dancers to qualify for Oireachtas Rince na Cruinne (the World Championships) is their Regional Oireachtas held in November/December each year.
